This
is a very beautiful Old Czech Crystal Salt & Pepper
Set that I just acquired from an old estate of a woman
that once owned an antique store. She has had a ton of
things stored since she closed her antique shop 20 years
ago. These pieces are really quite beautiful. They measure
approximately 2 1/4" wide and 2 1/2" tall and
are marked Czechoslovakia on the bottom. Very pretty pair
that look to be very old. They are also free of chips
or cracks. ID=ANTQ42
ERPHILA,
ROYAL CROWN GERMAN, MID-SIZE ROOSTER PITCHER
Erphila's (Royal Crown Germany) mid-size rooster. It measures
7 1/4" in height and 7 5/8" from tip of beak
to handle. The numerals
1451
are incised in the pottery as is the number 7. The pottery
is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.
Now for a little history lesson. I label this Erphila.
You can see it's exactly the same as those with the Erphila
name and there's a reason for that.
Erphila
were importers not manufacturers. Their names were Ebeling
& Reuss of PHILAdelphia and their company name was
an acronym. Their pottery was made
by Royal Crown of Austria, Germany, and of course Czechoslovakia.
And a few other companies.
What
was exported to North and South America by Erphila had
their acronym. What the manufacturers sold in Europe under
their own brand name, did not.
As
shown in one photo, there is a small factory flaw, a small
chip to the comb of the bird, which the craftsman just
continued to paint and glaze. ID=ANTQ43
This
is an antique Czechoslovakian place card holder circa
1910. The base is fancy brass with a green jewel. The
citrine colored glass intaglio is engraved with a scene
with rearing horse in a cloud.
It stands about 2" high x 1-3/4" wide.
There
are a few tiny nicks along the beveled glass edge which
are not seen in the photo. There is some oxidation in
the metal, visible in the photo, which can be cleaned.ID=CZsalt2

Glass Fruit Knife Painted Handle Orig. Box-1920's
"From
the mid-1920's through to the 1940's glass knives were
part and parcel of most complete kitchens. It was an era
in which most everything imaginable was made out of glass
-- from mail boxes to tableware to floor lamps to serving
trays to dresses! Ranging in size from about 7-1/2 to
9-1/2" these glass knives were most commonly made
in crystal [the Depression Glass collector term for transparent
uncolored glass], but were also available in amber, blue,
green, pink, and white. Now, why would one ever want a
knife made out of glass you may ask? The best answer comes
from an original advertisement for the "DUR-X GLASS
FRUIT and CAKE KNIFE" a gadget designed and patented
by a certain John Didio of Buffalo, New York in November
1938"
This
is a 9" long solid glass Fruit Knife in original
box with floral motif painted handle. The knife is surprisingly
sharp and appears in unused condition. The handle also
has embossed on handlePat'd/12/14/20/B.K.Co.. The box
has printed on it Glass Knife for fruit no metal to tarnish,etc..
It also has a vignette of women/childrensittin cutting
fruit with punch bowl on table in center. Condition is
very good with no chips /cracks/staining,etc.The box shows
signs of wear/tear with bottom of box having both small
ends missing and sides are loose but still attached..The
top is in good shape with just some curving to sides but
pretty well intact. The box has some darkening due to
age but not bad. ID=ANTQ46

Aksel Holmsen Norway Silver

Silver (plate?) and Enamel Mechanical Sugar Tong. This
is marked under the top as being made by Aksel Holmsen
of Norway. It is in beautiful condition and features
a length of 4 3/8" with a stunning green enameled

the 3 prongs of the tongs open allowing you to pick

There is no indication of silver composition so we are
